BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU (BJJ)

Perfected by the Gracie family to become a non-Olympic sport, BJJ’s popularity is growing in all parts of the world among professional mixed martial artists and recreational athletes wanting to learn proper self defense techniques (especially women who find it very useful against bigger men) or become more physically active.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art form of self defense. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger opponent by using proper technique and leverage, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and choke-holds to defeat the attacker. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, or simply for self-defense.
